Mantophasmatodea phenology at four sample sites as a function of rainfall patterns in 2003 and 2004. Time scale is in periods of ten days from May through September. For each year and sampling site (sample code see [31], the rainfall per period is ranked into 3 categories: no rain, <50%, or ≥50% of the monthly average rainfall (1962-1990; South African Weather Service [http://www.weathersa.co.za/]). The sampling days are provided for each locality (arrow) and the detection of adults and nymphs is given, respectively. The data indicate a life cycle that responds to the period and amount of rain during spring.
